Your student is ready for something real.

BraveMinds is a multi-day, experiential leadership development opportunity for rising 7th and 8th graders. We meet students at an adolesence inflection point. Identity, peer dynamics, and self-perception are still being formed. We give them the language, tools, and practice that courageous leaders rely on for the rest of their lives.

An experience that will shape your child’s leadership for life — personally and professionally.

BraveMinds is built on the idealis. Human-Centered Leadership framework — the same model used to develop senior executives at some of the world’s most demanding organizations. We’ve translated it into a developmentally appropriate, multi-day experience designed specifically for the moment your child is in right now.

Individual leadership identity development

Self-awareness, courage, empathy, and the ability to lead with and through others. Skills most people don’t develop until well into adulthood — your child will start building them now.

Hands-on, guided learning built through repetition and reflection

BraveMinds is entirely experiential. Every day is active, collaborative, and grounded in real situations. Your child will learn by doing, reflecting, and working alongside a cohort of peers.

Forming the foundation for a lifetime of impact

Middle school is when identity, relationships, and leadership habits take shape. The research is clear: the work students do right now has an outsized impact on who they become. We built this program for exactly this window.

Helping them find their people

Enrollment is intentionally small and application-based. Your child will spend time with a cohort of peers who share their curiosity, their drive, and their desire to make a difference. Many of these relationships last well beyond the program.

Skills that go with them — through middle school and everything that comes after.

They’ll know who they are.

Using the idealis. Human Core model, students build a clear understanding of their values, their strengths, and what energizes or drains them. This self-knowledge is the foundation of every leadership skill that follows.

They’ll know how to connect.

Your child will learn how to really listen, how to navigate conflict without losing relationships, and how to communicate in ways that build trust. These are the skills that determine the quality of every relationship they’ll ever have.

They’ll start to see what they’re made of.

The Courage Lab is the signature BraveMinds experience. Students take on a real challenge — one that requires stepping outside their comfort zone — and discover that they’re more capable than they thought. That revelation stays with them.

They’ll test what they stand for.

On the final day, every student articulates their personal leadership identity — their values, their voice, and exactly how they’re going to show up differently.

What happens in 7th and 8th grade matters a lot.

The practical details.

The questions families ask most.

Who will be leading the daily program?

BraveMinds is led by experienced idealis. facilitators and operates with full adult supervision throughout the program. All activities are thoughtfully designed to challenge students appropriately — physically, emotionally, and intellectually safe.

Are middle school students really ready for this?

Yes — often especially well. Real confidence is built from the inside out — not performed. Our most powerful moments often come from students who surprise themselves. Introversion is not a barrier; it’s often an asset.

Does my student need to already be involved as a leader to participate?

No prior leadership experience is required or expected. We start from who students are, not from any assumed baseline. The only requirement is willingness to show up and engage.

How do I know if this is a good fit for my student?

If your child is curious about people and the world around them, wants to make a difference, and is willing to be challenged — they’re ready. The application will help both of you figure it out. There are no wrong answers.

What will I notice in my child after this program?

Students come home more self-aware, more communicative, more grounded in who they are. The skills built at BraveMinds are designed to show up in classrooms, friendships, and at the dinner table.

What happens after the program ends?

We select partner schools who are committed to student leadership development across their curriculum. Your student and the other participants will continue to engage through their school and the BraveMinds team, staying connected to one another and through opportunities to share their learning and mentor other student leaders using their new skills.

The best thing you can give your child is the chance to find out what they’re made of.

Spots are limited and application-based. Share the program with your child and encourage them to apply. The application is short, honest, and designed to let them show up exactly as they are.
